Automated Video Analysis of Sport Videos

This project aims to develop automated tools based on machine learning to identify events and extract contextual information from video footage of sport events.

Dataset
Description

Since no publicly available datasets existed for the analysis of hockey game footage, we decided to build our own. We filmed several university-level hockey matches using two or more fixed cameras. We installed a camera on each end of the spectators' side of the rink.




Data Format

The annotated video data used in the following projects is available for download.

It is composed of two types of files:
  • Video files, encoded using the M-JPG format in 480x270 resolution at 30 frames per second.
  • Annotations, available in textual format.

Video Acquisition Setup

The following equipment was used to film the games:
 
Cameras were installed approximately 10 to 12 meters from the rink.
