Exemptions from the Ministry's increased fees will not be subject to competition.
Upon receipt of the Ministry's communiqué concerning the quota of exemptions allocated for the Master's program, the Dean of Studies will grant these exemptions, based on academic excellence and the following eligibility criteria:

  • Be enrolled in a minimum of 9 credits (a maximum number of credits may be applied, depending on current funding rules);
  • Not have exceeded four semesters in the Master's program;
  • Not have a “Fail” on file;
  • Not be the recipient (for the semester in question) of an exemption grant (from their country or another organization);
  • Not have already obtained three exemptions;
  • Not have unpaid tuition fees from previous semesters.

Additional rules may apply depending on the number of exemptions available.

There are no forms to fill in or documents to send to the Dean's office of studies. 
 

Fondation Cypihot-Ouellette (in French)
The Fondation offers scholarships ranging from $1,000 to 5,000 for visually impaired students. 
There is no deadline for submitting an application. The organization examines requests on February 15 and August 15.

  • C.D. Howe Scholarships - National Engineering Scholarship Program
    Two $7,500 scholarships for students entering their second year of a Bachelor of Engineering program in September 2025. The scholarships are offered for up to 3 years.

  • Undergraduate Student Research Awards NSERC (USRA)
    Scholarships for students who wish to undertake a research work term (STAXXX) during the Fall 2025 trimester. Another selection will take place in fall for the Winter 2026 trimester.

  • 2 year renewable scholarships awarded by a private fund
    Six scholarships renewable each semester for a period of 2 years offered to full-time Canadian students or permanent residents who have completed their first semester of a Bachelor of Engineering degree in the fall of 2024 and have accumulated at least 12 credits, and who have demonstrated their potential for success during their first year of studies at the Bachelor of Engineering degree level, and whose financial difficulties in future years may jeopardize their studies and graduation.   • Progressive Automations Scholarship
    Progressive Automations awards three scholarships valued at $2,500 each to promote studies in Engineering.
    Deadline for submitting an application to the organization: June 30, 2025

  • Financial support for the dissemination and promotion of research work 
    Up to $1,000 to cover expenses related to the presentation of your research project (Master’s thesis or Doctoral dissertation).
    Submit applications via the graduate and post-graduate scholarships portal on a first-come-first-serve basis.
  • The QcNEIHR Graduate Scholarships Program
    These scholarships will support students who demonstrate dedication in their studies and have the potential for partnership with Indigenous communities and organizations. The QcNEIHR Graduate Scholarships offer $25,000 for one year for a MASTER’S SCHOLARSHIP and $35,000 for one year for a PhD SCHOLARSHIP.

  • Google PhD fellowship program
    Scholarships aimed to support PhD students seeking to influence the future of technology.  
    Deadline for submitting an application for internal selection: May 9, 2025
  • Arbour Foundation 
    Scholarships intended for students with financial needs. Amounts: $20,000 (Master) and $35,000 (Doctorate).
    Deadline for submitting an application for internal selection: June 6, 2025
  • The William Taylor Scholarship in Radiocommunications 
    A $3,500 scholarship   is awarded annually to an engineering student who has completed (at a minimum) their second year in an accredited Canadian University, and who’s intention it is to continue their studies in pursuit of a career in telecommunications. 
    The application deadline is: Midnight, June 7, 2025
  • Canadian Dam Association Scholarships (CDA)
    Scholarships offered to students whose project is related to dam safety or management. 
    Deadline for submitting an application to the organization: June 15, 2025
  • Prix du ministre de la Sécurité Publique (in French) 
    $3,000 award for a student who has obtained a master's degree between July 1st, 2023 and June 30, 2025.and whose research is related to the Public Security Ministry's mission.

  • Mitacs Accelerate – Standard program
    This program offers paid internships at a partner business that agrees to contribute to the financing and to host the student at its premises to work on activities related to a joint research project. This program offers considerable flexibility in terms of eligibility, duration of work terms and allocation of time for research at the business.
    There is no set deadline for submitting applications. Applications must be submitted at least 8 weeks before the scheduled start of the internship. Several financing models are available.
  • Business Strategy Internship
    This program offers paid innovative internships at a partner business that agrees to contribute to the financing and to host the student at its premises to work on activities related to a joint research project to carry out the innovation activities of the organization, in order to help improve its products, processes or services. This program offers considerable flexibility in terms of eligibility, duration of work terms and allocation of time for research at the business. There is no set deadline for submitting applications. Applications must be submitted at least 5 weeks before the scheduled start of the internship. Several financing models are available.
  • Mitacs Globalink Research Award
    $6,000 fellowship for senior undergraduates and graduate students to conduct 12-24 week research projects at universities abroad. There is no set deadline for submitting applications. The number of available scholarships are limited. Applications must be submitted at least 16 weeks before the start of the project.
