Sensors, Networks and Connectivity

The increasing number of uses for digital technology has made connectivity indispensable in our lives. Companies are no exception: numerous components of their supply chain are now optimized by information and communication technologies (ICT), while hardware and software solutions help interconnect persons or objects, driving innovation, creativity and the valorization of information, as well as accessibility and collaboration.

Be it in the area of intelligent clothing, the infrastructure sector or the fields of health care, urban farming or transportation, to name but a few, robust, energy-autonomous sensors and their communication infrastructures must be designed so as to supply real-time diagnostics that enable corrective actions before problems arise and worsen.

Research Infrastructure

Acting as a true virtually scalable factory model, the intelligent cybernetic value chain connects the digital systems of partner educational institutions (ÉTS, UQAM, Polytechnique Montréal, Concordia University, Université Laval and Université de Sherbrooke, Cégep de Sherbrooke and John Abbott College) to the supply chain of a dozen Canadian manufacturing companies.

This project makes it possible for a company to experimentally validate its various digital transformation strategies in a live environment.

The technologies that are designed here incorporate cloud computing, artificial intelligence, robotics, human-machine interfaces and manufacturing through recycling.
