Placement Tests
For information about the placement tests, please refer to the French version of this page.
Workshops
The "Basic Health and Safety Rules" workshop is mandatory for all newly enrolled students, as of Winter 2025, who have not already completed the workshop as part of another program.
This includes:
- New admissions
- Readmissions
- Program changes
The “Basic Health and Safety Rules” workshop is designed to introduce students to the fundamental health and safety rules at ÉTS, particularly in the laboratory, in accordance with the institution’s commitment to providing a safe learning environment for its student community. Students must successfully complete this workshop prior to enrolling in courses. The test can be retaken as many times as needed until all students fully understand the concepts.
At the end of the workshop, students will be able to:
- identify the actions to take in case of an emergency, accident or near-miss and when recognizing the presence of a dangerous situation;
- recognize the categories of risks that can be present in ÉTS laboratories;
- identify the services offered by the Occupational Health and Safety (SST) prevention team at ÉTS;
- determine where to find additional information regarding the orientations applicable to health and safety in ÉTS laboratories;
- identify the personal protection equipment required to access laboratories and recognize the posters indicating health and safety rules in these laboratories.
The “Basic Health and Safety Rules” workshop is offered in English and French, according to the student’s language preference.
The test is set up to allow 10 attempts (the maximum allowed), each one lasting 4 hours. The passing score is 9 out of 11, and this score is then converted into a percentage (out of 100%) to ensure consistency with the other placement tests in the results table.
