Peer Tutoring via Nimbus

The Office of Student Life (SVE), in collaboration with the ÉTS Student Association (AÉÉTS), offers a free peer tutoring service for many ÉTS courses (depending on availability and demand) that is accessible via the Nimbus application.

The mandate that tutors commit to is to provide guidance by answering your questions concerning the course material, reviewing certain concepts with you, going through exercises and directing you toward other resources, if necessary.

Please note that the tutor cannot be substituted for the instructor in any way or answer questions concerning evaluations. If the tutor’s approach to resolving a specific problem differs considerably from the approach employed by the instructor, it is your responsibility to consult the instructor.

I would like to receive tutoring

  • Download the NIMBUS application on your smart phone (IOS – Apple or Android).
  • Use your ÉTS information (ÉTS e-mail and password) to register.
  • Search for the code corresponding to the course for which you require support.
  • You can register for a single one-hour session at a time.
  • All tutoring sessions are free, and can be held either online or in person on the ÉTS campus, depending on your preference.

I would like to become a tutor

We are constantly seeking new tutors to meet the demand from the student community. You can submit an application at any time during the session.

Why become a tutor on NIMBUS?

  • Good salary for students ($20.37/hour).
  • 100% flexible schedule.
  • Option of tutoring during the day, evening or weekend, on campus or remotely.
  • Possibility of adjusting the number of hours worked each week, depending on your availability.

When can I submit my application?

Recruitment for applications for tutors takes place at the beginning of each academic session (Winter, Summer and Fall). You must submit your application within the first two weeks of the session.

Please refer to the Academic Calendar to ascertain the deadline for submitting an application. The deadline for submitting your application is the same as the deadline for course changes with refund.

You may be invited for a telephone or an in-person interview.

You will receive an answer regarding the approval of your application in the two weeks following the application deadline for the current academic session.

Please note that any application that is submitted outside of these periods will only be considered for the subsequent academic session.
