Mitacs Globalink Research Award
The Mitacs Globalink Research Award program supports research collaborations between Canada and eligible countries and regions through international student mobility.
Under the joint supervision of a home professor and a host professor, graduating undergraduates, graduate students, and postdoctoral researchers can complete one or two internships lasting 12 to 24 weeks. Twenty-four (24) research awards are available at ÉTS for the 2026-2027 academic year, excluding projects in the quantum sector, for which there is no limit. The 24 awards will be awarded on a first-come, first-served basis, and each professor may apply for a maximum of two awards this year.
Amount and duration
Each intern will receive $6,000 per internship unit:
- $6,000 funding to conduct a 12- to 24-week research project in the other country, which corresponds to one internship unit.
- $12,000 funding to conduct a 24- to 48-week research project or two 12- to 24-week research projects in the other country, which corresponds to two internship units.
Eligibility criteria
Intern:
- Must be enrolled full-time at an eligible Canadian or international institution as a graduating undergraduate, graduate, or postdoctoral researcher for the entire duration of the Globalink Research Award.
- Postdoctoral researchers may apply if their doctoral degree was awarded within five years of the proposed start date of the research project.
Supervisor:
- You must be a faculty member.
- You must be eligible to supervise graduate students.
- Supervising professors at Canadian institutions: you must be able to administer the funds received from the three agencies.
Country Eligibility:
The program supports research and travel to post-secondary institutions between Canada and most countries. International mobility is possible between Canada and all countries, except those classified as "Avoid all travel" or "Avoid all non-essential travel" by the Government of Canada. For mobility to Canada, all countries are eligible, except Russia and North Korea.
