For Fall semester, the competition will be open from September 2nd until the funds are depleted.

The events must take place between September 2, 2025 and January 30, 2026

Applications are processed as soon as the file is complete on a first-come-first-serve basis.

Financial support for the dissemination and promotion of research work by PhD and Master’s students (with thesis) at conferences and symposia recognized in their field.

 

Amount and duration

  • Up to $1,000 depending on the financial needs demonstrated on the form.

Eligibility criteria

  • Be registered full-time (including a maximum of 3 out-of-program credits) in a master's (with thesis) or PhD program at the time of application AND during the presentation;
  • Must not have completed more than 8 semesters for master's applicants or 16 semesters for doctoral applicants;
  • Have a cumulative average of at least 3.2/4.3 in the current program of studies. PhD students with no GPA (first semester) can also apply;
  • Be the first author of the communication which is the subject of the application;
  • The communication must focus on the master’s (thesis) research or doctoral (thesis) research as identified on the Research Subject Idenfication Form of the candidate. The communication must arise from the research work carried out during the course of the actual study program.
  • Your director must commit to contributing at least 15% of the budgeted expenses. There is a limit of three awards per supervisor per year (summer, fall and winter).
  • Must not have already received this financial support during the current year (summer 2025, fall 2025 and winter 2026).

Selection criteria

  • Order of email arrival (complete application only);
  • Quality of the application (writing and respect of the instructions).

Application to submit by email including one PDF with every required document.

Step 2: Send the required document (in one PDF only) by email to infobourses@etsmtl.ca :

  • Copy of the application form
  • Proof of submission of the communication (use APA-ETS bibliographic style);
  • Estimated costs (hotel, airfare or other transportation).

Only complete applications will be considered.

Additional information:

  • For events that take place in Montréal, only the registration fees will be eligible;
  • The student must provide proof of acceptation of the communication;
  • The student must provide proof of participation and stay (proof of registration, travel and accommodation), otherwise a refund will be required. The required documents will be indicated in the award email;
  • A student can receive only one award per academic year (summer, fall, winter).
