École de technologie supérieure (ÉTS) is delighted to announce two Grands prix du design awards garnered by Menkès Shooner Dagenais LeTourneux Architectes (MSDL) within the context of the 12th edition of the Grands prix du design competition.

During the gala that was held on January 10, 2019, MSDL earned the Prix établissement institutionnel (Institutional Project Award) and the Prix projet de l’année (Project of the Year Award) for the conversion of the Dow Planetarium for ÉTS.

The former Dow Planetarium, located at 1000 rue Saint-Jacques, was completely renovated, and now takes its place among the flagship buildings of the ÉTS campus. It is the new home of Centech, the school’s accelerator for high-tech start-ups.

According to Pierre Dumouchel, Director General of ÉTS: “Over the past months, a number of ÉTS employees worked tirelessly to bring the conversion of the Dow Planetarium to completion. We are proud to have overcome the challenges that we encountered in repurposing this iconic Montréal landmark. As a result, Centech is now headquartered in a singularly unique location that will become the epicentre for innovation in Montréal, a strategic and dynamic site that is conducive to research and co-creation, and perfectly in keeping with the objectives of ÉTS in terms of fostering entrepreneurship and industrial innovation.”
