Hello everyone and welcome!

Major scholarship competitions are now open at the graduate and post-graduate levels. They are intended for students who wish to undertake or pursue their studies beginning in the Summer 2026, Fall 2026 and Winter 2027 (see the Master and Doctorate section below).

Great news 

The NSERC allows international students (doctorate program) to apply for the Canada Graduate Research Scholarship to support graduate students.  Mor details on our website.

Crucial information for preparing an application file

If you plan to submit an application for a scholarship competition:

  • Ensure that you meet ALL of the eligibility criteria for the competition in question.
  • Do not wait until the last minute before preparing your application.
  • Read all of the rules and guidelines for preparing your application.
  • If applicable, enlist your sponsors in advance to give them ample time to draft a letter of recommendation or fill out the prescribed form (see Consignes pour les répondantes et les répondants (Guidelines for sponsors) in French.
  • Respect the text presentation standards and guidelines.
  • Be sure to enclose all required documents.
  • Consult the fiches d’aide (information files) (in French) to give yourself the best chance of success.

Non-compliant files and incomplete files will be rejected.

Official transcripts

Respect the instructions. If an official transcript is needed you should provide one. The transcripts available in Signets are not official transcripts. Consult the Registrar's Office web page for the procedure to follow, in order to obtain your official transcript. Don't wait until the last minute.

Question and answer sessions by NSERC

NSERC is hosting the following question and answer sessions for the doctoral scholarship programs:

  • September 3 (in French) - 1 pm to 3 pm (Eastern Time) (Link).
  • September 5 (in English) - 10 am to noon (Eastern Time) (Link).
  • September 8 (in English) - 10 am to noon (Eastern Time) (Link).
  • September 10 (in English) - 1 pm to 3 pm (Eastern Time) (Link).

Support for French-language integration

Master's with thesis students admitted on an adequate knowledge of English may get the reimbursement of French course tuition fees. Consult the master web page and the doctorate web page for information on the program.

  • Savvy New Canadians Student Award
    Two scholarships value of $1,000 to increase and improve financial literacy and awareness among students in Canada. 
    Deadline for submitting an application to the organization:  September 22, 2025
  • Prix Relève 2024 du CERIU (CERIU succession awards) (in French)
    $2,000 in financial support for an applied research project in the field of urban infrastructure.
    Deadline for submitting an application to the organization: October 10, 2025, 12:00 (noon)
  • ASÉQ Foundation
    Grant to encourage students initiatives and academic, extracurricular and social engagement. The amount varies depending on the project, up to a maximum of $5,000.

  • Arup’s Engineering Indigenous Student Scholarship 
    Scholarship intended to support and encourage Indigenous students throughout their post-secondary educational journey.

  • Undergraduate Student Research Awards (USRA) - NSERC
    Scholarships for students who wish to undertake a mandatory research work term during the Winter 2026 trimester.
    Deadline for the internal selection: October 31, 2025
  • Mining Industry Scholarships
    The Quebec Mining Association offers one $3,000 scholarship to students in the earth sciences and related fields.
    Deadline for submitting an application to the organization: December 1st, 2025

  • Financial support for the dissemination and promotion of research work
    Up to $1,000 to cover expenses related to the presentation of your research project (Master's with thesis or Doctorate). 
    Submit applications via the graduate and post-graduate scholarships portal.
  • NSERC Canada Graduate Scholarship (Doctorate)
    Scholarship amount: $40,000 per year.
    Deadline for submitting an application to ÉTS: September 22, 2025
  • Rhodes scholarship
    Two scholarships offered to promote students who want to pursue their studies at Oxford University.
    Deadline for submitting an application to the organization: September 23, 2025
  • McCall McBain scholarships
    Up to 130 scholarships offered to committed student planning to pursue a Master's program next year (2025).
    Deadline for submitting an application to the organization: September 24, 2025
  • MEDTEQ+ Dian-Côté
     Scholarship dedicated to female entrepreneurship in applied engineering in the field of health.
    Deadline for submitting an application to the organization: September 26, 2025
  • Travel Grants and Scholarships for research stays in RWTH Aachen University
    Grants and scholarships to support stays of doctoral candidates from strategically relevant universities. Travel grant of 1,000 euros (lump sum) and monthly stipend of 1,800 euros for up to 6 months. For information write to international@etsmtl.ca.

  • Graduate and post-graduate scholarships – FRQ 
    Scholarship amount: $20,000 to $25,000 depending on the level.
    Deadline for submitting an application to the organization: October 1st, 2025, 4 p.m.
  • Réal-Decoste / Ouranos scholarships
    Doctorate scholarships for research into climate changes and its impact.
    Deadline for submitting an application to the organization: October 1st, 2025, 4 p.m.
  • Partnership Training Scholarships - Régie de l'Énergie
    $25,000 scholarships for students whose study program is in the fields targeted by the Régie de l'Énergie. 
    Deadline for submitting an application to the organization: October 1st, 2025, 4 p.m.
  • Climate Action Scholarship Program
    $12,000 scholarships to doctoral students to provide an opportunity to participate in the future of climate action in Québec.
    Deadline for submitting an application to the organization: October 2, 2025, 4 p.m.
  • Graduate Studies Scholarships (IRSST)
    Master and Doctorate scholarships for research programs that focus on the prevention of workplace accidents and occupational diseases or on the rehabilitation of workers who are victims of such incidents. Scholarship amount: $19,000 to $25,950 per year, depending on the level.
    Deadline for submitting an application to the organization: October 15, 2025, 4 p.m.
  • Claude-Drouin Postgraduate Research Scholarship (Quebec Mining Association)
    A $4,000 scholarship for postgraduate students whose research relates to the mining sector.
    Deadline for submitting an application to the organization: December 1st, 2025

There are currently no exclusive competitions in effect.

Other competitions announced in Info Bourses may also be open to international students. Please verify the eligibility requirements.

Other financial support

  • Mitacs Accelerate – Standard program
    This program offers paid internships at a partner business that agrees to contribute to the financing and to host the student at its premises to work on activities related to a joint research project. This program offers considerable flexibility in terms of eligibility, duration of work terms and allocation of time for research at the business.
    There is no set deadline for submitting applications. Applications must be submitted at least 8 weeks before the scheduled start of the internship. Several financing models are available.
  • Business Strategy Internship
    This program offers paid innovative internships at a partner business that agrees to contribute to the financing and to host the student at its premises to work on activities related to a joint research project to carry out the innovation activities of the organization, in order to help improve its products, processes or services. This program offers considerable flexibility in terms of eligibility, duration of work terms and allocation of time for research at the business. 
    There is no set deadline for submitting applications. Applications must be submitted at least 5 weeks before the scheduled start of the internship. Several financing models are available.
     

  • Mitacs Gloablink Research Award
    $6,000 fellowship for senior undergraduates and graduate students to conduct 12-24 week research projects at universities abroad. 
    There is no set deadline for submitting applications. The number of available scholarships are limited. Applications must be submitted at least 16 weeks before the start of the project.
