Two ÉTS community members appointed to scientific advisory committees of the Fonds de recherche du Québec

École de technologie supérieure (ÉTS) is proud to announce the appointment of Daniel Normandin, Director of CERIEC, and Sylvain Bouix, Professor-Researcher in the Department of Software Engineering and Information Technology, to the scientific advisory committees of the Fonds de recherche du Québec (FRQ).

Mr. Normandin will sit on the Society and Culture Committee, while Sylvain Bouix will join the Health Committee.

These appointments are in recognition of ÉTS’s expertise and the ability of its research community to play an active role in shaping public policy in the field of research.

“By getting involved in these committees, they will help the FRQ remain relevant and agile in a rapidly changing world. They will also ensure that research continues to advance science and enrich Quebec society,” said Ghyslain Gagnon, Dean of Research at ÉTS.

The committees' mandates include

  • Supporting the scientific direction of the sectors by providing advice on research practices, orientations and the next generation of scientists;
  • Encouraging open science and interdisciplinary collaborations to meet society’s challenges;
  • Strengthen relations between science and society by promoting knowledge mobilization and the impact of partnership research.

This recognition by the FRQ positions ÉTS as a key player in research and policy development in response to contemporary issues facing Quebec society.
