Marcelle-Gauvreau Engineering Research Chair on the Impact of Environmental Changes on Water Resources
About the Chair
The goal of this Research Chair is to better understand the influence of climate change combined with transformations associated with the use of land along water resources.
The objectives of the work done by the Marcelle-Gauvreau Engineering Research Chair on the Impact of Environmental Changes on Water Resources include determining the repercussions of these changes on the occurrence of flooding and droughts, among other phenomena. This will enable us to adapt water-management practices for watersheds.
Research
The Chair is focusing on the following projects in order to attain its objectives:
- Developing new methodologies associated with the typical modelling chain used in impact studies;
- Evaluating the ability of hydrological modelling tools to simulate the effect of land-use changes;
- Modelling of numerous scenarios, taking into account the various types of climates, mountainous profiles, vegetation and watersheds.
