Puzzle Medical Devices, a Centech start-up company, took home the grand prize at the prestigious Bourses Pierre-Péladeau (Pierre-Péladeau Bursaries) competition: a $100,000 bursary. Two of the three Co-Founders of the company, Jade Doucet-Martineau and François Trudeau, study at ÉTS.

The ModulHeart cardiac pump that the team created is seen as a breakthrough technology by the medical community. ModulHeart offers patients suffering from heart failure a minimally invasive, and therefore safer, long term circulatory support. The small modular pump is inserted into an entry site in the patient’s artery, and then assembled inside the body.

According to Jade Doucet-Martineau: “This bursary will allow us to complete our preclinical trials and increase the size of our team, which is the next phase in the development of our product”.

On to the OSEntreprendre National Gala

Puzzle Medical Devices definitely has the wind in their sails! They were also honoured during the regional OSEntreprendre Gala in April 2019, winning the Technological Innovation Prize in the Start-Up Company category. That means that this small team will be a finalist at the Desjardins Grand Prize Gala for the OSEntreprendre Challenge, which will be held in Québec City on June 12, 2019.
