Three Minute Thesis Competition
The Three Minute Thesis (3MT) / Ma thèse en 180 secondes (MT180) Competition is open to all students enrolled in a Master's program with thesis or a PhD program at ÉTS.
A challenge to overcome and prizes to win!
On your own, you will have three minutes sharp to present your research to a panel of non-specialist judges. The challenge is to present complex research information in an engaging, accessible and compelling way.

Your presentation must be clear, concise and convincing. Also:
- You may support your oral presentation with a single PowerPoint slide (landscape format 25.4 cm x 19.05 cm), static: no animation or movement is permitted;
- No other aids are permitted;
- Your presentation must be given in English.
It is a unique opportunity to develop communication skills in your research field and draw public attention to your work... Not to mention the possibility of winning prizes valued from $750 to $1000.

The Competition's calendar
1st stage: Preliminary heats
The competition will take place in March 2024 (precise date and location to be confirmed).
Six candidates will be selected to participate in ÉTS’s finals.
2nd stage: ÉTS's finals
The next competition will take place in March 2024 (precise date and location to be confirmed).
The winners will receive:
- 1st prize: $1,000
- 2nd prize: $750
3rd stage: 3MT Eastern Regional Competition
The Eastern Regional Competition gathers finalists from Canada's Atlantic provinces and Quebec. The date and location are not known yet.
