Scholarship competition from granting agencies
Get ready for the next round of competitions from granting agencies (NSERC, FRQNT, CIHR, IRSST). These post-graduate scholarship competitions are intended for candidates who are looking to obtain funding beginning in the Summer 2024, Fall 2024 or Winter 2025 semesters. Plan ahead to obtain the funding you need at the beginning of your studies.
As you wait for the granting agencies to update their websites, why not consult the rules for last year’s competitions in order to be better prepared?
Rio Tinto Scholarship
$18,000 scholarship intended for graduate students whose research topic falls under one of the areas specified by Rio Tinto. For more detailed information, consult the rules and criteria for the program.
The deadline for submitting an application for internal selection is June 23, 2022, 3 p.m.
Interested in applying for a CIHR Master's scholarship in the Fall?
CIHR will be hosting informations sessions (rules, criteria, etc). For information on these sessions, consult the CIHR web site.
ORDER OF THE WHITE ROSE SCHOLARSHIP
$50,000 scholarship awarded annually by the management of Polytechnique Montréal to a Canadian female engineering student who wishes to continue her studies in engineering at the graduate level (Master’s or PhD), at the establishment of her choice, in Canada or abroad.
For more detailed information, consult the rules and criteria for the program. The application period has been extended to June 15, 2023.

Scholarships intended for students of Haitian origin
Deadline for submitting an application to the organization: July 31, 2022
- Undergraduate Student Research Awards (USRA) - NSERC
Scholarships for students who wish to undertake a research work term (STAXXX) during the Fall 2023 and Winter 2024 trimesters. Considering the limited number of scholarships available, it is recommended you apply before the deadline, even for Winter. Should there be remaining scholarships, another selection will take place in Fall.
Deadline for the internal selection: June 11, 2023
- Laure Waridel Bursary
One $10 000 scholarship with mentoring by Laure Waridel for a student whose research work is on the ecological transition.
Deadline for submitting an application to the organization: July 15, 2022
- IDRC International Doctoral Reseach Awards
24 awards of up to $20 000 are offered to researchers whose research project is related to the International Development Research Center's objectives.
Deadline for submitting an application to the organization: July 17, 2023, 1 p.m.
- Rhodes Scholarships
Scholarships available for students who wish to pursue their studies at Oxford University.
Deadline for submitting an application to the Dean of Studies Office: September 8, 2023, 3 p.m. (internal selection)
There are currently no exclusive competitions in effect.

OTHER FINANCIAL AID
- Mitacs Accelerate – Standard program
This program offers paid internships at a partner business that agrees to contribute to the financing and to host the student at its premises to work on activities related to a joint research project. At least 50% of the student’s research time must be spent at the partner organization. This program offers considerable flexibility in terms of eligibility, duration of work terms and allocation of time for research at the business.
There is no set deadline for submitting applications. Applications must be submitted at least 6 weeks before the scheduled start of the internship.
- Mitacs Accelerate Fellowship
These grants are in addition to the Mitacs Accelerate standard grants described above. They require an industrial partner, and are accompanied by customized professional development training.
- Mitacs Accelerate International
$15,000 grants for bilateral research collaborations (16 to 24 weeks) with an international company. Applications can be submitted to the organization at any time. Applications must be submitted at least 12 weeks before the scheduled start of the project.

- Mitacs Globalink Research Award
$6,000 fellowship for senior undergraduates and graduate students to conduct 12-24 week research projects at universities abroad. There is no set deadline for submitting applications. Applications must be submitted at least 16 weeks before the start of the project.
