Three Minute Thesis Competition

The Three Minute Thesis (3MT) / Ma thèse en 180 secondes (MT180) Competition is open to all students enrolled in a Master's program with thesis or a PhD program at ÉTS.

A challenge to overcome and prizes to win!

On your own, you will have three minutes sharp to present your research to a panel of non-specialist judges. The challenge is to present complex research information in an engaging, accessible and compelling way.

Your presentation must be clear, concise and convincing. Also:

  • You may support your oral presentation with a single PowerPoint slide (landscape format 25.4 cm x 19.05 cm), static: no animation or movement is permitted;
  • No other aids are permitted;
  • Your presentation must be given in English.
 

It is a unique opportunity to develop communication skills in your research field and draw public attention to your work... Not to mention the possibility of winning prizes valued from $750 to $1000.

The Competition's calendar

 

The competition took place on March 16, 2022 from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on campus premises i.e. A-1302, on the 1st floor of Pavilion A*
*In accordance with Public Health at the time

Six candidates were selected to participate in ÉTS’s finals.

The competition took place on March 24, 2022 from noon to 1:30 p.m., at A-1600.

The winners received:

  • 1st prize: $1,000
  • 2nd prize: $750

The Eastern Regional Competition took place online on June 16, 2022.

As for the National 3MT Competition, it will be held in a hybrid format later in November 2022 as part of the 60th Annual CAGS Conference, which will take place in Montreal.
