itechsanté

Research Institute for Innovation in Health Technologies

The world of health care is facing complex challenges, including an aging population, an increase in chronic diseases, inequalities in access to care, and mounting pressure on healthcare systems and supply chains.

These challenges call for innovative, collaborative, and technological solutions. It is against this backdrop that itechsanté was created, with the mission of turning these challenges into opportunities.

About us

Itechsanté is an institute specializing in health technologies, focusing on co-creation to meet current and future health challenges. That is why it brings together researchers from a variety of disciplines, healthcare professionals, entrepreneurs, and members of civil society.

Its research community develops technologies and processes capable of preventing or diagnosing pathologies more quickly or supporting people living with physical, psychological, or neurological disabilities.

In addition to creating innovations that promote the well-being of people, itechsanté strives to optimize the efficiency of the healthcare system and support the performance of industries operating in this field.

Mission

Develop new knowledge, skills, and technological innovations to improve and promote health and increase the country’s collective wealth.

Vision

Canada’s most widely recognized institute in health technologies for the relevance of its training, its research, and the benefits of its innovations.

An approach focused on the needs of stakeholders

The members of itechsanté are committed to putting their expertise and experience to work to meet concrete needs. To achieve this, a number of measures have been put in place to keep in constant touch with stakeholders:

  • Understanding workforce needs and adapting training programs to better meet them
  • Immersion of engineering students in these environments through internships
  • Applied, interdisciplinary research geared to the needs expressed by our partners
  • Research infrastructures shared with stakeholders, enabling testing in real-life conditions
  • Co-creation with users and future beneficiaries of innovations
  • Adoption of a common language and adaptation to the different contexts of the healthcare sector, including its standards and regulations
