Evacuation
There are a number of situations that may require the evacuation of a building at ÉTS. Here is the procedure to follow if an emergency measure requires an evacuation.
Montreal campus
When you hear the fire alarm or when Security orders an evacuation
- Remain calm;
- Proceed immediately to the nearest emergency exit and evacuate the building;
- Do not use the elevators;
- Report to the designated assembly points for your building;
- Do not delay to collect personal belongings;
- Do not re-enter the building under any circumstances;
- Provide assistance to individuals with special needs.
Persons with reduced mobility
In the event of an evacuation, specific measures are in place for you:
- Proceed to the nearest emergency exit and wait inside the stairwell (designated safe area).
- Report your presence to Security (by phone at extension 55, or through the Rave Guardian app), providing your exact location: building, floor, and stairwell number.
- Remain in place: emergency services, accompanied by our intervention team, will come to assist you.
Ensure that the emergency exit is safe before using it. If it is not safe, use a different emergency exit
- Use the back of your hand to determine whether the door is hot;
- Verify whether there is smoke present;
- Verify whether there is a suspicious odour (natural gas).
Return to the building
- Authorization to return to the building will be communicated at the assembly point.
