Ruxandra Botez, a Professor in the Systems Engineering Department at ÉTS, has received the 2021 Rodica Baranescu award for Technical and Leadership Excellence from SAE in recognition of her exceptional technical and leadership skills and her contributions to the aerospace industry.

Established in 2011, the Award celebrates the successes of women in the engineering profession and recognizes their leadership and technical contributions in the aerospace, automotive and commercial vehicle sectors. The Award serves to broaden the awareness of the reach and impact of women working in mobility engineering. Its goals are to stimulate the involvement of women in engineering as well as open doors for young girls interested in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) who wish to pursue engineering careers.

In the spring of 2021, Professor Botez was named a Fellow of the Royal Aeronautical Society, a world-renowned British organization that is committed to promoting the highest standards in the aerospace sector. She is a leading authority in the control of collapsible adaptive structures and aeroelastic optimization in aeronautics.

Her reputation had previously earned her the title of Associate Fellow of the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics in 2017 and of the Canadian Aeronautics and Space Institute in 2019. Ruxandra Botez has earned numerous other awards and distinctions over the course of her career.
