2022

  • Dr. Ruxandra Botez named Fellow of the Canadian Aeronautical and Space Institute (CASI).
  • Dr. Ruxandra Botez named finalist for the Honoris Genius Award – Recherche ou enseignement du génie (engineering research or teaching), Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec (OIQ).

2018

  • Dr. Ruxandra Botez recognized as the Most Highly Cited Author in the Chinese Journal of Aeronautics (source: Scopus).
  • Dr. Ruxandra Botez named winner of a Special award during the 2018 GLOREP conference in Timisoara, Romania: A painting created by renowned Artist Mihai Teodor Olteanu.
  • Diploma of Excellence and Medal awarded to Dr. Botez for her achievements in aerospace research during the conference celebrating 100 years of Aviation in Romania (1919-2018), held at the Romanian Academy in Bucharest.

2017

  • Dr. Ruxandra Botez named winner of the Award for Excellence in Aerospace Engineering by the American Romanian Academy (ARA) for her international contributions to aerospace engineering and teaching.
  • Dr. Lucian Teodor Grigorie named winner of the Award for Excellence in Aerospace Engineering by the American Romanian Academy (ARA) for his international contributions to aerospace engineering and teaching.

  • Dr. Ruxandra Botez and her team at LARCASE named winners of the Venetzia Award for work done as part of the CRIAQ MDO-505 project, Scientific and Academic category.

2014

  • Presentation delivered by Dr. Ruxandra Botez selected to the short list of the 14 best papers and presentations for the selection of awards at the 2014 Greener Aviation conference.
  • Second prize for the CRIAQ MDO-505 project awarded during the CRIAQ Forum to the team of Professors comprising Dr. Ruxandra Botez, Dr. Simon Joncas, Dr. Éric Laurendeau (Polytechnique Montréal), Dr. Mahmood Mamou and Dr. Brian Jahraus and his team from ARC-NRCC, along with industrial leaders Philippe Molaret from Thales Canada, Dr. Patrick Germain and Dr. Fassi Kafyeke from Bombardier Aerospace.

2012

  • Model Award for Best Simulation presented by Presagis to LARCASE, under the direction of Dr. Ruxandra Botez.
  • Third prize for the CRIAQ 7.1 project awarded during the celebration of the 10th anniversary of CRIAQ in March 2012 to the team comprising Dr. Ruxandra Botez, Dr. Vladimir Brailovski and Dr. Patrick Terriault (ÉTS-LAMSI), Dr. Ion Paraschivoiu (Polytechnique Montréal), Dr. Mahmood Mamou and Dr. Youssef Mébarki (ARC-NRCC), Philippe Molaret from Thales Canada, Dr. Éric Laurendeau and Dr. Fassi Kafyeke from Bombardier Aerospace, and all of their teams.

  • Dr. Ruxandra Botez named winner of the ÉTS Research Excellence Award for her outstanding research qualities, industrial achievements and supervision of a large number of graduating Master and PhD students in 2007.

  • 2021 Charles M. Manly Memorial Medal given by SAE International to Alejandro Murrieta, Ruxandra Botez, Hugo Ruiz and Sonya Kessaci as authors of the paper entitled: "Particle Swarm Optimization with Required Time of Arrival Constraint for Aircraft Trajectory", SAE Aerospace, Special Issue on ''Innovations for Sustainable Aviation'', Vol. 13(2), pp. 269-291, 2020, doi:10.4271/01-13-02-0020.

  • PhD Award during the Second International Symposium on Flutter and its Application (ISFA2020) given to PhD students M. Tavallaeinejad (McGill University) and Manuel Flores Salinas (LARCASE) for the paper entitled “Why Inverted Flags Flap: An Experimental Study”, authored by Tavallaeinejad, M., Paidoussis, M. P., Salinas, M. F., Legrand, M., Khein, M. and Botez, R. M., and published in the proceedings of the ISFA2020 conference held in Paris, France, May 11 to 15, 2020. 

2018

  • Best Poster Award given to Gueye Maimouna (internship student) during the Automated Manufacturing Engineering Department’s scientific popularization by poster competition.
  • Best Presentation Award given during the 2018 ICEER conference for the paper entitled “Design and Validation of an Aerodynamic Model of Cessna Citation X Horizontal Stabilizer using both OpenVSP and Digital DATCOM” authored by Marine Segui, Matthieu Mantilla and Ruxandra Mihaela Botez. The Award was presented to Ms. Segui by the World Academy of Science, Engineering and Technology (WASET).
  • Best Paper Award given during the 2018 ICEER conference for “Aerodynamic Coefficients Prediction from Minimum Computation Combinations using OpenVSP Software” authored by Marine Segui, Matthieu Mantilla, Ruxandra Mihaela Botez. The Award was presented by the World Academy of Science, Engineering and Technology (WASET).

  • CRIAQ MDO 505 project team headed by Dr. Ruxandra Botez (Teodor Lucian Grigorie, M. J. Tchatchuneg Kammegne, Andreea Koreanschi, Oliviu Sugar Gabor, Mohamed Guezguez, Yvan Tondji, Mahmood Mamou, Youssef Mébarki) named winner of the Morphing Wing Modeling and Simulation Award for poster No 25, entitled “Experiments on a Real Aircraft Morphing Wing” during the 41st ARA Congress.
  • Georges Ghazi (PhD student) named winner of the Award for Best Teaching Assistant at Polytechnique Montréal.

  • CRIAQ MDO 505 project team named winner of the Young Scientist Poster Award for the poster entitled “Morphing Architectures and Related Technologies for Wing Efficiency Improvement”. The poster was presented by Manuel Flores Salinas (PhD student) during the 40th ARA Congress.
  • Poster Award in Aircraft Modeling (First Prize) given to the team comprising Alina Turculet (Master Student), Georges Ghazi (PhD Student) and Dr. Ruxandra Botez during the 40th ARA Congress. Poster entitled “Development of Aircraft Database in Cruise Flight using Equations of Motion”.
  • Poster Award in Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) given to the team comprising Guillaume Tatrie (internship student), Maximilien Hawawini (internship student) and Dr. Ruxandra Botez during the 40th ARA Congress.
  • Poster Award in Navigation Modeling given to the team comprising Charles Romain (internship student), Alejandro Murrieta Mendoza (PhD student) and Dr. Ruxandra Mihaela Botez during the 40th ARA Congress. Poster entitled “Aircraft Trajectory Optimization to reduce Fuel Consumption in Cruise”.
  • Poster Award in Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) given to the team comprising Maxime Kuitche (PhD student), Marine Segui (internship student), Anais Kerroux (internship student) and Dr. Ruxandra Botez during the 40th ARA Congress. Poster entitled “Estimation of the Flight Dynamics of the UAS-S4 through its Geometry Characteristics”.
