MTR801E - Planning of a research project in engineering
This course introduces the fundamentals needed to plan independent research and critically review relevant literature in engineering. At the end of this course, students will be able to define, organize and communicate a research project taking into account the context and environment in which it takes place, to apply the rules leading to intellectual integrity, and to critically review the research being conducted in his field.
The topics covered include: Classification of Research; Organization of the Research Area; Conducting a Research Project; Elements of Project Management. Critical Review of Literature; Identification of Information Sources, Collection Techniques, Management and Evaluation of Information; Development of a Problem Statement, Research Objectives and Hypotheses; Classification of Research Methods. Formulation of a Research Methodologies; Ethics and Intellectual Integrity: Fraud, Plagiarism; Research Involving Human Subjects; Copyrights, Intellectual Property.
