ÉTS offers you the possibility to choose a study profile geared to your interests:
Master's with thesis (research profile)
The master’s profile with thesis (research profile) leads to obtaining a Master of Applied Sciences (M.A.Sc.). It usually includes two sessions of courses (eight months) and a research project (12 months). At ÉTS, research projects are usually conducted in partnership with industry and related to an industrial problem. Here you can develop your skills in the resolution of complex problems, the management of large scale development projects and technology transfer – many transferable skills for a career in industry or a continuation to doctoral studies.
Master's with project (project profile)
The profile with project leads to obtaining a Master of Engineering (M.Eng.). It usually includes three sessions (12 months) of technical and management courses plus a research project or an industrial internship (or both). It provides for the acquisition of advanced technical skills and the development of skills in the management of engineering projects:
- 5 technical courses (15 ÉTS credits corresponding to 30 ECTS);
- 5 management courses (15 ÉTS credits corresponding to 30 ECTS);
- A business intervention project (consultant internship) or application project (research);
- An optional industrial internship.
Regardless of the chosen profile, the successful completion of the end-of-studies project (whether it be a project or thesis) usually validates by equivalence the end-of-studies internship required for the award of your Engineer degree, unless your home institution has specific additional requirements. This activity can take place without specific regulatory restrictions in Canada, France or abroad. Before your departure, make sure you confirm the specific conditions of the agreement with your establishment of origin.
