Prediction of fatigue and wear of high voltage strands caused by wind induced loadings

The goal of this Ph.D. project is to obtain via a modelling approach a detailed description of the mechanisms responsible for internal strand degradation in the vicinity of suspension clamps. After understanding the degradation causes, the Ph.D. investigation should clearly indicate what measures should be made in service to detect and monitor strand degradation, and ultimately predict the remaining life.
