Canada Research Chair on Next-Generation Internet of Things (Next-Gen IoT) Networks

About the Chair

The mission of the Canada Research Chair on Next-Generation Internet of Things Networks is to create a framework for ensuring the connectivity, resource management and security of the next generations of IoT networks.

This project should lead to enhanced protection of IoT networks, an eventual reduction in costs related to cybercrime and training of highly skilled personnel.

Research

The Chair team is working toward creating a framework for ensuring the connectivity, resource management and security of the next generations of IoT networks. In order to achieve this, they are focused on the following :

  • Designing intelligent resource-allocation solutions that will meet the technical challenges of the next generations of networks to be used to integrate billions of linked objects;
  • Developing new access strategies that are robust enough to maintain massive connections;
  • Developing solutions to prevent possible security breaches affecting IoT networks.
