Reminder of procedures for the Summer and Fall 2021 semesters
Deconfinement announced: In-person final exams for the Summer semester and return to campus for the FallFriday, May 28, 2021
On May 18, Premier François Legault encouraged students to get themselves ready for an in-person return to college and university campuses in the fall. Last Tuesday, the government announced the details of its deconfinement plan.
Following this announcement, ÉTS is ready to welcome its student community back to campus for the beginning of the Fall semester and for final exams for the ongoing Summer semester.
After more than a year of confinement, we can finally see a glimpse of a return to some sort of normalcy this summer. Some regions, including Montréal, are expected to progress from red zones to orange and then yellow, and finally, to green.
Québec has seen a significant decrease in the spread of COVID-19, and the vaccination campaign is running smoothly, with close to 60% of Québecers having received their first dose. The government also expects that the delay between the first and second doses may be reduced, which would allow for 75% of the Québec population to be fully vaccinated by September.
In addition to the exemplary health measures that have been implemented on the ÉTS campus for many months, these encouraging numbers will enable us to hold all final exams for the Summer semester in-person and to organize a safe and welcoming return to campus for the Fall semester.
Summer semester: In-person final exams
All of this means that ÉTS will be able to return to its customary vitality in the month of August. The campus will welcome 6,000 people during the intensive final exam period, and the rest of the student community, including international students, will follow soon after.
- Therefore, as was announced before the beginning of the Summer semester, final exams will be held in-person on campus from August 2 to 11.
- Some academic activities, including practical and laboratory work, may be delivered in-person on a gradual basis over the course of the coming weeks. Faculty members will advise their students in advance, as applicable.
- International students currently outside Canada are expected by July 18 to complete their quarantine before the exam period begins. ÉTS reminds them that they can benefit from the financial support program for supervised quarantine.
Fall semester: In-person return to campus
The vast majority of activities for the Fall semester, which runs from August 30 to December 16, 2021, will be delivered in-person;
A festive return expected: Looking forward to being together again!
In light of this, we invite all ÉTS students, faculty and staff to expect and plan for the upcoming events. Support and assistance services are also available to all members of the ÉTS community.
Against this exciting backdrop of a new normal, we are continuing our digital transformation, the pace of which has been accelerated beyond expectation over the course of the last year in terms of teaching activities, and especially in terms of evaluations and exams.
Many orientation and entertainment activities are planned on campus to celebrate the return to school and the pleasure of being together again.
