ÉTS welcomed Marc Garneau, Canada’s Minister of Transport, and Marc Miller, Member of Parliament for Ville-Marie - Le Sud-Ouest - Île-des-Soeurs, for a press conference held by Transport Canada.

The Minister chose ÉTS as the location for announcing Canada’s new rules for remotely piloted aircraft systems, more commonly known as drones. The new rules, which will come into force on June 1, 2019, apply to all drone pilots flying drones between 250 grams and 25 kilograms that are operated within the drone pilot’s visual-line-of-sight, regardless of whether they are flown for fun, work or research.

The Dronolab student club was then invited to stage a demonstration flight of its drone in the presence of Minister Garneau and Mr. Miller, along with members of the media who were in attendance.
