Phoivos Ziogas Electric Power Award by IEEE Canada
Ambrish Chandra, a Professor in the Electrical Engineering Department, receive an Award.Friday, September 21, 2018
Numerous executives from Concordia University and members of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) Canada gathered in Montréal on September 19 to mark the presentation of the Phoivos Ziogas Electric Power Award to Professor Ambrish Chandra.
Ambrish Chandra, a Professor in the Electrical Engineering Department at ÉTS since 1994, was chosen to receive the Award from IEEE Canada on May 14, 2018. The Award has existed since 2007, but this is the first year it bears the name of Professor Ziogas. It is presented to exceptional Canadian engineers in recognition of their significant contribution to the field of electrical engineering.
A Researcher with the Power Electronics and Industrial Control Research Group (GREPCI), Professor Chandra is internationally renowned for his work on wave quality, harmonic compensation, active power filters and renewable energy. He has contributed to the development of new theory and control algorithms related to the integration of renewable energy sources into transmission systems equipped with enhanced energy quality characteristics, and to improving the quality of power in transmission systems.
Ambrish Chandra has authored close to 300 articles and is co-author of the book entitled Power Quality: Problems and Mitigation Techniques, published by prestigious scientific publishing house Wiley & Sons. He is also a distinguished Researcher and Professor, and the excellence of his innovative research work is unanimously recognized around the world. His work has had a significant impact, and his exemplary contribution to the field of electrical engineering makes him a deserving recipient of this prestigious Award from the IEEE.
In addition to the Phoivos Ziogas Electric Power Award, has also been named a Fellow of the IEEE and a member of the Distinguished Lecturers program for the Power and Energy Society division of the IEEE. He is also a Fellow of the Engineering Institute of Canada and a member of the Canadian Academy of Engineering.
