Web Accessibility
Web accessibility provides an optimal experience to all people “whatever their hardware, software, network infrastructure, native language, culture, geographical location, or physical or mental ability” (World Wide Web Consortium) (External Website). For example, it allows:
Blind people to use the site;
- People with a physical disability to navigate without using the mouse;
- Colour-blind people to distinguish colours;
- People with little command of English or French to better understand the text;
- Seniors to easily use the site.
Accessibility Verification
The following software tools were used to verify site compliance to Government of Québec Web accessibility standards (external website) (in French):
- Jaws 18 / IE 11
- NVDA 2018 / Chrome 65
- NVDA 2018 / IE 11
- The W3C HTML validator
- aXe: the Accessibility Engine
