Master’s student rewarded twice for his excellenceWednesday, May 15, 2019
Roody St-Pierre, a Master’s student in the Renewable Energies and Energy Efficiency program at ÉTS, was recently recognized with not one, but two separate scholarships! His first award was the Prix universitaire du Mérite for graduate-level studies from the Fondation de l’Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec , valued at $5,000, followed by a scholarship from Presses de l’Université du Québec in the amount of $4,000.
The Prix universitaire du Mérite from the Fondation de l’Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec was presented to Roody St-Pierre in recognition of the excellence of his academic performance and his community involvement. As for the scholarship from Presses de l’Université du Québec, it was also based on academic excellence, among other factors, including the clear and accessible nature of his Master’s thesis, entitled “Développement de critères de construction pour réaliser des habitations durables adaptées au climat nordique Québécois” (Developing construction criteria for creating sustainable housing adapted to the climate in Northern Québec). His Thesis Director was Professor Daniel Rousse from the Mechanical Engineering Department.
Prix universitaire du Mérite de la Fondation de l’Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec
The Prix universitaires du Mérite for graduate and post-graduate studies are awarded in recognition of the commitment to excellence demonstrated by certain members or engineering students who are members of the Student Section, and whose academic performance and social and community involvement epitomize the values of the profession.
Scholarships from Presses de l’Université du Québec (PUQ)
The merit-based scholarships awarded by PUQ are intended to provide support for graduate and post-graduate students and encourage them to focus on academic excellence and contribute to the advancement of research during the writing of their dissertation or thesis. These scholarships also help students to prepare themselves for the practice of academic publishing, which is an unavoidable reality in the research world.
