Professor Ruxandra Botez is a highly respected Researcher in the cutting-edge fields of aerodynamics and aeroelasticity, and in November 2018, she was celebrated for her work in these areas in her home country of Romania.

2018 was a momentous year for the European country, marking both the 100th Anniversary of the end of World War I and the advent of “Greater Romania”, the largest expansion in the history of the country. 2018 was also punctuated by numerous national commemorations, with Professor Botez receiving two such honours.

Firstly, Professor Botez presented a session on Green Aircraft Minimum Fuel Consumption Methodologies within the context of the 2018 Global and Regional in Environmental Protection conference, which was held in the Romanian city of Timisoara. She provided an update on the research work being done by her team at LARCASE, and received a Special Prize for the presentation in the form of a painting by Mihai Teodor Olteanu, an Impressionist painter.

Subsequently, during an event entitled “One Hundred Years of Aviation in Romania”, which was organized by the National Institute of Aerospace Research (INCAS) and held in Bucharest, Professor Botez presented a session on the contribution of Romanian aviators during the two World Wars, at the end of which she was awarded a Diploma of Excellence for aerospace research in Romania, along with a medal commemorating the 30th Anniversary of the creation of the IAR Falcon military aircraft.

As Head of the Research Laboratory in Active Controls, Avionics and Aeroservoelasticity, (LARCASE) and holder of the Canada Research Chair for Aircraft Modeling and Simulation Technologies, Ruxandra Botez is making significant contributions to the fields of aircraft design, modeling and simulation.
