Doctoral Research Scholarships for foreign students

These scholarships aim to stimulate international students’ interest in beginning or pursuing doctoral studies in Québec and provide financial support to leading candidates.

Plan to submit an application one year in advance:
The current competition is open to students who wish to obtain financing beginning summer 2019, fall 2019 or winter 2020.

Amount and duration

  • Scholarships of $20,000 (9 semesters)

Eligibility criteria

Must not be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident of Canada.

Must not have made an application for permanent residence under Canadian immigration law.

To be eligible, candidates must be studying in one of the following research areas:

  • Aerospace;
  • New information and communications technologies;
  • New healthcare technologies;
  • Genomics;
  • Nanotechnology.

Selection criteria

An internal selection will determine the applications that will be recommended to the FRQNT. Shortlisted candidates will then be invited by the FRQNT to submit a scholarship application.

Documents required

Documents to be sent by email to the Dean of Studies Office at infobourses@etsmtl.ca 

From the student: a single PDF document containing (in this order) the following:

  • Application form (for ÉTs selection - in French);
  • Transcripts of grades for all university studies (both sides of pages) beginning with the most recent - do not attach diplomas or certificates.

  From the thesis supervisor:

  • A letter of support from the doctoral thesis supervisor (actual or planned)
