The Government of Canada announces new funding to support Black scholars

The Government of Canada recently announced additional funding for Black scholars. To begin with, all eligible applicants to the Undergraduate Student Research Award (USRA) will be recommended to NSERC, regardless of our quota. 

Additional informations will follow for Master's and PhD programs.

Molson Foundation scholarships (Master's with project)

Université du Québec Foundation Scholarships 

Université du Québec Foundation offers scholarships to recognize the academic excellence of female students enrolled in a Master's with project program. For information, consult the program rules

This month:

  • CRIAQ 2023 Space Challenge 
    The CRIAQ Space Challenge is a golden opportunity for students interested in the aerospace industry, and in particular in space development issues. The participants of the winning team will have the chance to work on a paid mandate at CRIAQ during the summer of 2023.
    Deadline for submitting an application to the organization: March 17, 2023
  • Scholarships of the MNA for Westmount-St-Louis
    Two scholarships valued at $1 000 for students residing in the riding of Westmount-St-Louis.
    Deadline for submitting an application to the organization: March 10, 2023
     
  • Undergraduate Student Research Awards (USRA) - NSERC
    Scholarships for students who wish to undertake a research work term during the Summer 2023, Fall 2023 and Winter 2024 trimesters (recognized as a mandatory work term within the context of the study program). Considering the limited number of scholarships available, it is recommended you apply before the deadline, even for Fall and Winter. Should there be remaining scholarships, another selection will take place in Fall.
    Deadlline for the internal selection: March 15, 2023
     
  • Canadian Academy of Engineering Scholarships
    Two scholarships of $2,000 offered to students in the fields of transportation/mobility and aerospace and two $2,000 Nation-building scholarships.
    Deadline for submitting an application to the organization: April 14, 2023

There are currently no exclusive competitions in effect.

Other Financial Aids

  • Mitacs Accelerate – Standard program
    This program offers paid internships at a partner business that agrees to contribute to the financing and to host the student at its premises to work on activities related to a joint research project. At least 50% of the student’s research time must be spent at the partner organization. This program offers considerable flexibility in terms of eligibility, duration of work terms and allocation of time for research at the business. 

    There is no set deadline for submitting applications. Applications must be submitted at least 6 weeks before the scheduled start of the internship. 
     
  • Mitacs Accelerate Fellowship
    These grants are in addition to the Mitacs Accelerate standard grants described above. They require an industrial partner, and are accompanied by customized professional development training.
     
  • Mitacs Accelerate International 
    $15,000 grants for bilateral research collaborations (16 to 24 weeks) with an international company. Applications can be submitted to the organization at any time. Applications must be submitted at least 12 weeks before the scheduled start of the project.

  • Mitacs Globalink Research Award 
    $6,000 fellowship for senior undergraduates and graduate students to conduct 12-24 week research projects at universities abroad. There is no set deadline for submitting applications. Applications must be submitted at least 16 weeks before the start of the project.
