Other expenses
You must take into account various other expenses when planning your studies. Some expenses are mandatory, others are not. Here is an overview of expenses that you should plan for.
School supplies

- $150 to $300 per session for manuals, course notes, etc.
- Roughly $200 for a calculator (mandatory for Bachelor level students)
- Roughly $1000 for a portable computer (mandatory; please consult the Technological Support webpage for technical specifications)

* ASEQ: This automatic optional contribution may be cancelled by the student. For more information including the deadlines for withdrawal, or to exercise your right of withdrawal, please visit the ASEQ website or call 514 789-8792. The deadline for withdrawal is September 30 (January 31 for new students in the winter session only).
** If you wish to cancel your contribution to the ÉTS Development Fund, the AÉÉTS Sustainable Development Fund or the student newspaper, you must do so using the MyÉTS section of the interactive portal.
*** Insurance fees: Québec law provides that international students must have accident, sickness and hospitalization insurance. This coverage is purchased through ÉTS and fees of $900 per academic year ($300 per session) are charged to the account of each student. Only persons holding a valid Québec health insurance card and Canadian grant recipients insured as required by the federal government, such as CIDA or Francophonie fellows, may be exempted from these insurance costs.
