Position - Construction Project Management Professors

The Construction Engineering Department at ÉTS (Montréal, Canada)
is seeking two Construction Project Management Professors. The candidates’ research activities will be added to existing projects in fields of interest related to construction project management.

Areas of expertise sought
 
Candidates must demonstrate expertise in one or more of the following fields:

  • Planning, control and scheduling of construction projects;
  • Estimation, cost engineering and value engineering for construction projects;
  • Construction contract management;
  • Construction quality management;
  • Risk analysis and management for construction projects;
  • Integrated management systems for construction projects;
  • Construction business informatics;
  • Simulation and modelling of construction projects;
  • Visualization and optimization of construction projects.



Description of position

The candidates sought will:

  • Teach at all three university levels in areas related to construction project management;
  • Develop new courses in the field of construction project management, and ensure that existing courses remain up to date with respect to the latest knowledge in the field;
  • Working with other professors in the Construction Engineering Department, supervise and coordinate the teaching of courses in the field of construction project management;
  • Oversee students at the post-graduate level;
  • Conduct subsidized or contractual inter-sectoral and inter-disciplinary research projects in cooperation with industry and work environments;
  • Develop a research program;
  • Published scientific articles;
  • Fill out applications for grants, particularly for NSERC and FQRNT.



Qualification requirements

  • Master’s degree in civil engineering, construction engineering, building engineering or a related field, and more than 15 years of experience as manager of building or infrastructure construction projects, with full responsibility for all phases of construction, OR;
  • Doctorate (Ph.D.) in civil engineering, construction engineering, building engineering or a related field, and expert in construction project management;
  • Member of the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec (OIQ) or able to undertake the necessary steps to become a member before applying for a permanent position OR member of the Ordre des architectes du Québec;
  • Experience in industry, or research experience working closely with industry is an asset (if the candidate does not have such experience, solid R-D experience may be equivalent, or willingness to acquire such experience through an internship in industry);
  • Proven excellence of research and teaching skills. Professional experience or solid R-D experience is an asset;
  • Mastery of French (oral and written) in compliance with the Politique linguistique de l’ÉTS (ÉTS Language Policy), or proven willingness to learn the French language and commit to a francisation process supported by ÉTS.

Salary and terms

This is a tenure-track position. Salary will be commensurate with experience and qualifications in accordance with the Collective Agreement.
